Dr Amresh Srivastava is trained by KEM Hospital and Seth G S Medical. College Mumbai where I received MD (Psychological Medicine and DMP "diploma in psychological medicine"). He worked with several organizations in academic and administrative positions in University departments, research Institutions Non-Governmental and public health Organizations.
After retirement, he is a professor emeritus at the Western University, and Adjunct Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute in London, Ontario, Canada.
He is the recipient of fellowships from the Royal College of Psychiatry FRCPsych, (UK), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada by academic accreditation (FRCPC) and a fellowship from the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA). I have been working in the field of suicide prevention, early intervention, and complex mental disorders. He is also the recipient of prestigious research and service awards.
His areas of interest include Suicide prevention, early intervention, and complex mental disorders. He has served as an editor, reviewer, and member of the editorial board of psychiatric journals and published original research reviews, book chapters, and academic and non-fiction academic books.
Most notable amongst these is the publication of a reference book series on suicide – “Suicide from a Global perspective in five volumes (2012), Schizophrenia treatment outcome (2020), and Handbook on Optimizing Patient Care in Psychiatry, (Published in 2022).
He continues to write academic as well as non-fiction books .in Non-fiction academic books for people include Mind Matters, the science of success.
His latest book is in process ‘The battle within’ – a book for peaceful living in turbulent times. Is in the press. Expected by October 2023. His passion is to develop mental health.
Literature for people in Indian Language – Hindi. e.g.’Dard-ka-Safar, and kamyabiyan. The latest one ‘Rishte aunchal ke ‘is under publication and expected to be released by June 2023.
I have the honor of receiving prestigious research and service awards from professional organizations, hospitals, and universities in India, the United States and Canada. I have worked with professional organizations in administrative, research and academic positions, member of editorial boards, and a reviewer for scientific journals, and books, along with collogues has developed 2 psychometric scales 1. The instrument for suicide risk assessment (SISMAP) 2. Scale for quantification of stigma (SQS).
